McArthur is seeking an experienced and proactive Procurement Officer to join a regional council based in Casino, NSW.

McArthur is seeking an experienced and proactive Procurement Officer to join a regional council based in Casino, NSW.
This is a full-time term contract through to June 2027 and offers the opportunity to support procurement activities that are essential to the delivery of council services, infrastructure and operational programs.
The role
The Procurement Officer will support a coordinated, consistent and compliant approach to purchasing across the organisation. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, stores personnel, suppliers and contractors to ensure materials and services are available when required and procured in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and legislation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting compliant procurement of goods and services
- Providing advice to staff regarding procurement policies, procedures, quotations, tenders and expressions of interest
- Coordinating supplier engagement and monitoring supplier performance
- Assisting with RFQ and tender documentation and evaluation processes
- Supporting the use of online procurement and purchasing systems
- Coordinating biannual stocktakes and reconciling inventory records
- Monitoring supply levels, lead times and potential service interruptions
- Supporting the efficient operation of council stores and depots
- Delivering procurement guidance and training to internal stakeholders
- Promoting value for money, probity, transparency and continuous improvement
- Ensuring procurement activities appropriately consider WHS, environmental and operational risks
About you
You will be a detail-oriented procurement professional who can balance compliance requirements with operational priorities. You will be comfortable working autonomously while also collaborating with a small team and stakeholders across the organisation.
To be considered, you will possess:
- A Certificate IV in Procurement or an equivalent qualification, or at least four years' relevant experience in a similar environment
- A current Class C driver licence
- Demonstrated procurement, purchasing or supply-chain experience
- Experience preparing or administering quotations, RFQs, tenders or supplier agreements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sound attention to detail and record-management capability
- The ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and delegations
- Strong stakeholder, supplier and relationship-management skills
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
- A strong commitment to integrity, accountability and workplace safety
Highly regarded
The following experience will be advantageous:
- Local government or broader public-sector procurement experience
- Knowledge of local government tendering and procurement requirements
- Understanding of Section 55 of the Local Government Act
- Experience with TechnologyOne, VendorPanel or similar procurement systems
- Inventory, stores or stocktake experience
- Budget administration experience
- Experience procuring plant, equipment, PPE, operational materials or professional services
Contract details
- Full-time, 70-hour fortnight
- Term contract through to June 2027
- Based in Casino, NSW
