The Queens Hotel Gladstone is one of Central Queensland's leading hospitality venues, employing a team of approximately 60 people across our premium bars, gaming, restaurant, accommodation, functions, entertainment and two Bottlemart retail stores.
We're seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join our leadership team in a flexible part-time or casual role. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment, can work autonomously, proactively solve problems, and is passionate about supporting people and leaders.
Reporting directly to the Venue Manager and Director, you'll play a key role in building a positive workplace culture while ensuring our business remains compliant with employment legislation, workplace obligations and hospitality industry requirements.
About the Role
As our HR Advisor, you'll provide practical, hands-on HR support across the entire employee lifecycle, partnering closely with department managers across Bar, Gaming, Bistro, Kitchen, Accommodation, Retail and Functions.
This is a genuine operational HR role where you'll work alongside leaders to recruit, develop and retain great people while driving best-practice HR across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end recruitment, interviewing, onboarding and offboarding.
- Prepare employment contracts, letters and HR documentation.
- Coordinate staff inductions and mandatory compliance training.
- Provide advice on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary matters and workplace investigations.
- Coach managers on leadership, performance and people management.
- Coordinate probation reviews and performance appraisals.
- Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards and Hospitality Industry (General) Award.
- Monitor and coordinate compliance including RSA, RSG, TAB, Keno, CLO, Food Safety, Food Safety Supervisor and Approved Manager qualifications.
- Assist with Workplace Health & Safety, Return to Work and WorkCover claims.
- Maintain HR records, reporting and compliance registers.
- Support employee engagement, recognition and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
To be successful in this role you'll have:
- Previous experience as a HR Advisor or HR Generalist.
- Hospitality, gaming, retail or multi-site experience highly regarded.
- Sound knowledge of Fair Work legislation, Modern Awards and employment legislation.
- Experience managing employee relations, workplace investigations and performance management.
- Excellent communication, coaching and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience using Tanda Payroll and Workforce Management will be highly regarded.
- HR qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.

- $45–$55 per hour + Superannuation, based on experience.
