Position Summary
The Learning and Support Teacher supports students requiring additional learning support across Kindergarten to Year 12. Reporting to the Head of Learning Enrichment, the role works collaboratively with teachers, School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs), families and allied health professionals to provide evidence-based support that enables students to fully access and participate in learning. The role promotes student wellbeing, belonging and positive engagement while building teacher capability through collaboration, coaching and evidence-informed practice.
About the Learning Enrichment Department
The Learning Enrichment Department works across K–12 to ensure students with diverse learning needs can access,
participate in and succeed in learning. Our approach is collaborative, strengths-based and evidence-informed. We embrace neurodiversity and support teachers through coaching, collaboration, targeted intervention and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), fostering student wellbeing, belonging and achievement.
Key Responsibilities
Identify students requiring additional learning support through assessment and data analysis.
Develop, implement, monitor and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Personalised Learning and Support Plans (PLSPs).
Deliver evidence-based intervention for students with disability, neurodivergent profiles and other diverse learning needs.
Support transitions across K–12 and promote student independence and self-advocacy.
Collaborate with teachers to implement differentiation, reasonable adjustments and UDL.
Build teacher capability through coaching, mentoring and qualified learning.
Assist in coordinating SLSOs and contribute to NCCD processes.
Liaise with families and allied health professionals.
Maintain accurate records and comply with College policies and legislative requirements.
Uphold the values and ethos of Minarah College and undertake other duties as directed.
Selection Criteria
Recognised teaching qualifications and current NESA accreditation.
Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs across K–12.
Understanding of neurodiversity-affirming practice.
Knowledge of the Disability Standards for Education and reasonable adjustments.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Current NSW Working with Children Check.
Postgraduate qualifications in Special or Inclusive Education.
Knowledge of NCCD.
Experience in an independent or faith-based school.
