Velmec Automotive is seeking a Qualified Automotive Technician to join our dynamic team in Gympie, Queensland. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in delivering exceptional automotive repair and maintenance services to our valued customers. As a Qualified Automotive Technician, you will be at the heart of our operations, utilising your technical expertise to diagnose, repair and maintain vehicles to the highest standards. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge
- Perform routine maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, brake inspections and fluid checks
- Repair and replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, suspension systems and electrical systems
- Conduct vehicle inspections and provide detailed reports to customers regarding required repairs
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all work completed
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and workshop protocols at all times
- Collaborate with other technicians and workshop staff to ensure efficient service delivery
- Communicate clearly with customers about repair requirements, timelines and costs
- Keep up to date with manufacturer specifications and technological advancements in the automotive industry

What we're looking for

- A qualified light vehicle automotive technician or equivalent certification




- Proven experience working as an automotive technician in a professional workshop environment
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engine, suspension, braking and electrical components
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid manual driver's licence
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Reliability, punctuality and a commitment to safety standards
- Willingness to develop current skills and stay current with automotive technology
