The Opportunity
KBR is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support a key Defence capability program within the LAND domain. Working directly alongside the client in Canberra, you will undertake and lead technical investigations, engineering assessments and systems engineering activities associated with platform upgrades, modifications and sustainment outcomes. Acting as an important technical liaison between stakeholders, you will ensure engineering solutions are delivered safely, compliantly and in alignment with Defence requirements. This role offers the opportunity to influence complex engineering decisions, support capability improvements and provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee technical investigations relating to Defence platform systems.
- Develop and verify technical instructions, engineering data and technical documentation.
- Support systems engineering activities across the project lifecycle.
- Manage technical requirements from project inception through to introduction into service and transition to sustainment.
- Contribute to engineering change management and configuration management activities.
- Participate in engineering design reviews and support engineering assurance activities.
- Act as a Design Acceptance Representative and provide engineering oversight for capability upgrades.
- Support verification and validation planning and execution.
- Develop strong working relationships with Defence stakeholders, industry partners and project teams.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and developing team members.
As the ideal candidate you will bring
- Degree qualification in Engineering.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
- 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience within Defence programs.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMPs).
- Requirements management experience using DOORS.
- Change control and engineering review board experience.
- Systems safety engineering knowledge.
- Strong configuration management experience.
- Experience working within Defence engineering environments.
- Knowledge of the ASDEFCON contracting framework.
- Experience managing engineering risk.
- Experience in Verification and Validation (V&V;) planning and test activities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Engineering design documentation development.
- Experience supporting Defence acquisition, upgrade or sustainment programs.
Requirements and Eligibility
As a Major Service Provider of the Australian Defence Force, an AGSVA security clearance will be required and compliance to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is mandatory.
