The Company
An opportunity is available for an experienced contracts professional to join this large, asset-intensive organisation operating within a complex industrial environment.
This role offers the prospect to take real ownership of site-based contract management and help establish a stronger, more structured approach to how contracts and contractors are managed across the business.
The Role
This is a hands-on, site-based role with significant ownership and visibility across the organisation.
You will:
- Build and develop the site-based contract management function, establishing stronger processes, governance and commercial discipline.
- Manage key contracts supporting maintenance, shutdowns and capital works.
- Lead contract administration including variations, claims, change control, extensions of time and contract close-out.
- Monitor contractor performance across safety, quality, cost, delivery and service.
- Support contractor mobilisation and ensure contractual, insurance, site access and compliance requirements are met.
- Work closely with maintenance, engineering, operations and project teams to resolve commercial and contractual issues.
- Support procurement and sourcing activities including scopes of work, supplier evaluations and contract negotiations.
- Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and contractors to improve contract performance and operational outcomes.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in contract management within construction, energy, utilities,
heavy industry or another asset-intensive environment.
- Strong understanding of site-based contract administration, including contractor mobilisation, access requirements and service delivery controls.
- Experience supporting maintenance, shutdowns or capital works would be highly regarded.
- Good knowledge of contract law principles, risk allocation, variations, claims and dispute management.
- Strong commercial acumen with well-developed analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with frontline teams, leaders, contractors and professional advisers.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm and effective in a fast-paced operational environment, including during outages or unplanned work.
- Proficiency in contract management systems, Microsoft Office and commercial reporting tools.
- Tertiary qualifications in construction, commerce, engineering, law or a related discipline are desirable.
