Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is seeking experienced senior-level locum doctors (PGY5+ or CMO equivalent) to act as Senior In-Charge within the Emergency Department.
You'll lead the clinical team overnight or after hours, coordinate patient flow, supervise junior staff, and manage all acute presentations with backup from on-call FACEMs.
This role is ideal for experienced ED locums, rural generalists with strong emergency backgrounds, or career medical officers looking to step into senior leadership in a metro ED.
Clinical Environment:
- Lead the ED team across busy after-hours or overnight shifts
- Oversee admissions, resuscitations, and time-critical cases
- Supervise junior RMOs and SRMOs with support from on-call consultants
- Maintain oversight of patient flow and clinical escalation
- Autonomy and seniority in a high-performing ED with clear protocols and a collaborative team
Eligibility Criteria:
- General or Specialist AHPRA Registration
- Comfortable leading an ED team independently
- NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
- Australian working rights
- Willingness to complete onboarding and credentialing

- Up to $300/hour depending on experience and shift
- Travel and accommodation may be included for eligible locums

Location - Nepean Blue Mountains LHD, NSW:
This role may be based at Nepean Hospital in Penrith or Hawkesbury District Hospital in Windsor, both within Western Sydney. These sites offer the perfect balance of metro-level clinical exposure and a more relaxed pace than inner-city hospitals.
