SMW Group is currently seeking experienced Diesel Fitters to join our expanding operations near across multiple sites in the Bowen Basin.

We are known for running well‑managed sites, maintaining long term client relationships and retaining skilled tradespeople through consistent work and practical leadership.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity suited to Diesel Fitters who are experienced in Coal Mining Heavy Mobile Equipment, site ready and looking for secure, long term employment with a contractor that values reliability and workmanship.

As a Diesel Fitter with SMW Group, you will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, fault finding, repair and rebuild of heavy mobile equipment and diesel powered plant used across operational mine sites. Working as part of an experienced field service team, you will support site operations by ensuring equipment reliability, optimal performance and strict compliance with site safety standards.

The role requires a strong hands on background, the ability to work autonomously on site and a practical approach to maintenance and repairs in demanding environments.

About You

- Demonstrated experience working as a Diesel Fitter within coal mining, heavy mobile equipment (HME), or heavy industrial environments
- Australian recognised Trade Certificate
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven diagnostic and fault finding capability on diesel‑powered plant and equipment
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence
- Standard 11 (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Coal Board Medical
- High Risk Work Licences (highly desirable)
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and adherence to site procedures
