Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions Pty Ltd (RNM), a joint venture between Rheinmetall Waffe Munitions and NIOA Pty Ltd has established a state of the art forging and manufacturing facility in Maryborough QLD that produces artillery shell cases and other munitions-related products for supply to the defence industry.
What are we looking for?
The Operations Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and completing operational projects, on time, within budget, and according to requirements. This role requires overseeing all aspects of projects, leading cross-functional teams, managing resources, ensuring quality control, and communicating project progress and status to all stakeholders. The Operations Project Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager and Production Managers and their technical staff to ensure alignment of project outcomes with functional area work plans and goals.

Key Accountabilities
Develop detailed project plans in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders including scope, objectives, timelines, resource requirements and to define and agree on project goals and deliverables.
Relevant projects include but are not limited to Business Unit operational excellence, facility capability and capacity expansion requirements, development and introduction of new products, identification and implementation of new manufacturing equipment, automation, processes, safety and other improvement projects.
Support the Operations Manager with factory planning, material flow and storage, cycle times and capacity calculations, process development and planning and development of Technical Procurement Specifications.
Oversee project execution, ensuring adherence to the plan, managing deviations, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Collaborate effectively with Production Managers and Maintenance Manager to ensure project tasks minimise impact to operations whilst achieving project outcomes.
Monitor project progress, quality, and performance, using appropriate tools and processes.
Allocate resources effectively, assigning tasks to project team members as applicable.
Engage Contracts & Procurement Manager and manage supplier and contractor relationships as required, ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines.
Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Conduct regular risk assessments and implement contingency plans to address unexpected issues or changes in project scope.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints.
Collaborate with the Procurement Manager to negotiate contracts with suppliers within the project budget.
Co-ordinate the preparation of project reports and forecasts for the Operations Manager.
Serve as the main point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and potential issues.
Facilitate project meetings, workshops, and presentations to ensure alignment among stakeholders.
Lead and motivate project team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment and to ensure successful project delivery.
Analyse project outcomes and processes to identify areas for improvement.
Implement best practices and lessons learned in future projects to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and methodologies relevant to project management.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:
Qualifications in project management,
engineering and/or manufacturing with advanced heavy industry / manufacturing experience
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in similar role
Proficient use of MS Office and project software

Additional Requirements
Fit to work in munitions manufacturing setting and perform the inherent requirements of this role including but not exhaustive of manual handling, manufacturing processes, moving machinery, traffic management, elevated noise levels, work at heights, electric and magnetic fields, heat treatment, CNC, surface treatment/chemical use, interaction with personnel, automation, computers & electronic devices, varied work with competing priorities and timeframes. Specific hazards and risks of tasks are outlined in area work instructions.
Physical requirements to sit, stand, walk, use hands and reach with arms, talk and hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or manoeuvre awkward and/or heavy items using aids.
Ability and resilience to work varied hours as required to achieve desired outcomes including overall project collaboration and execution with teams on multiple shifts.
Police/security checks and permanent right to work in Australia.
Obtain and/or maintain BASELINE security clearance
