We are looking for a reliable and motivated Warehouse & Trade Counter Assistant to join our new roofing supplies team with an immediate start available.
This is a hands-on, varied role combining warehouse operations, stock control, trade counter service and customer support. The successful applicant will enjoy working in a fast-paced setting, helping customers and keeping the warehouse running safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, including receiving, storing, picking and dispatching roofing products and materials.
- Serve customers at the trade counter and assist with product enquiries, orders and collections.
- Accurately pick, pack and prepare customer orders for delivery or collection.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate stock records and assist with stocktakes and inventory control.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment requirements to the purchasing and management teams.
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing deliveries, freight and transport schedules.
- Ensure customer orders are prepared accurately and completed within required timeframes.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse and trade counter area.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, including the safe handling and storage of materials and equipment.
- Use inventory and order management systems to process orders and maintain accurate records.
- Liaise with sales, customer service, drivers and management to provide a seamless customer experience.
- Assist with improving warehouse processes, stock accuracy and order turnaround times.
- Communicate with freight carriers, suppliers and transport providers when required.
- Support other warehouse and operational duties as needed.
About You
The ideal applicant will have:
- Previous warehouse, trade counter, retail or customer service experience.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to order accuracy.
- The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills and confidence using inventory or order management systems.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- The physical ability to safely handle and move roofing products and building materials.
A current forklift licence and experience within the roofing, construction or building supplies industry would be highly regarded.
