Position Title: Graduate Development Scientist
Business Unit: Microbiome
Reporting To: Head of Scientific Development
Based: Office located role in Brisbane

This role is responsible for developing and delivery of process and method development and manufacturing scale-up for microorganism fermentation and Live Biotherapeutic products. In our new purpose built global research centre in Brisbane, Australia.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Sacco System Australia is based in Brisbane Queensland in it new state-of-the-art facility. The Graduate Scientist is a laboratory-based role and is expected to display a good level of staff and project engagement. As part of the team at Sacco System Australia,
this role will focus on supporting the science team to have an effective and suitable probiotics and next-gen probiotics manufacturing for internal and external projects. This role would suit a new graduate looking to develop their skills, develop your interpersonal capabilities, develop and contribute to a team environment and work in an industrial fermentation setting.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Conduct anaerobic manufacturing systems at small scale for external clients. This includes preparation of growth media, setup of equipment, microbial testing and cleaning of laboratory and equipment.
- Conduct microbial analysis of obligate anaerobes using standard microbial analytical techniques.
- Under direction perform microbiological handling for product optimisation and innovation.
- Assist in the analysis of data, write up experiments and results, reporting to the Senior development scientist.
- Assist with the development of standard operating procedure, protocols, comply with all lab safety and regulatory procedures.
- Other duties as agreed with Senior Scientist/Head of Scientific Development
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- A Bachelor's degree in microbiology.
- Knowledge of anaerobic microbiology, microbiological techniques, and scale up.
- Demonstration of conducting experiments, analysing data and writing reports.
- Willingness to learn how to use bioreactors, centrifuges, filtration systems, and lyophilises.
- Ability to think innovatively, problem solve creatively and work proactively.
- Ability to work in team.
- Ability to work with multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
