Sniffers Group and our sister company Earthfix Australia are Australian owned and operated, with more than two decades of experience across the Government, Construction and Mining industries. We service South East Queensland and Northern NSW, and we’re seeking a qualified Diesel Fitter to lead our Stapylton workshop.
This role requires a true all‑rounder with a can‑do attitude—someone who can oversee the workshop, manage maintenance schedules, mentor apprentices, and keep our fleet operating at its best. While the role is primarily workshop based, some field service work will be required.
What you’ll do
- Manage maintenance schedules and ensure timely servicing
- Diagnose, service and repair a wide range of heavy equipment
- Perform occasional field service work as required
- Source and purchase parts and consumables
- Lead by example in safety, quality and work standards
- Train, mentor and support two apprentices
- Carry out preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
- Work across earthmoving,
transport and crushing/screening equipment
What you’ll bring
- Trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter / Heavy Diesel Mechanic
- Strong leadership skills and a passion for developing apprentices
- Experience managing workshop workflows and maintenance planning
- Ability to source and purchase parts efficiently
- A versatile, hands‑on approach — must be an all‑rounder with a can‑do attitude
- Experience with earthmoving and crushing equipment (advantageous)
- Own tooling required
- Robust computer literacy — able to manage maintenance planning, update fleet records, order parts online, and communicate effectively using email and workshop management tools
If you’re a proactive leader who enjoys variety, responsibility and shaping the next generation of tradespeople, we’d love to hear from you.
