Freight Tasker Pty Ltd – Fortitude Valley QLD
Job Type: Permanent position | Full time position
Job Description
Location: Brisbane Position: Full time Salary: $80,000 - $90,000
Freight Tasker Pty Ltd, a digitally forward multi-national freight forwarder, is looking for an experienced full-time Software Developer with a background in the logistics industry. You will build the systems that run our forwarding and customs operations, working hands‑on with CargoWise, Expedient and modern AI tooling.
About the Company
Freight Tasker Pty Ltd is a digitally forward multi-national freight forwarder with our Australian operations based in Brisbane.
Technology sits at the centre of how we operate: we invest in automation, systems integration and practical AI to streamline forwarding and customs workflows, connect with partners and carriers, and deliver a faster, more accurate service to our customers. You will join an on‑site team where your work goes straight into daily operations.
About the Role
This is a standalone role for a capable all‑rounder who will oversee the technological advancement of the business. You will own our technology roadmap end to end: developing, testing, maintaining and documenting application code in line with user requirements and system and technical specifications, building integrations with our CargoWise and Expedient platforms, and embedding AI across our operations. You will work directly with the leadership team and operational staff, with the autonomy to choose the right tools and set the technical direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, consult and analyse user,
business and system requirements, and evaluate existing systems to identify deficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Design, develop, test, debug, document and maintain program code in accordance with user requirements and system and technical specifications.
- Build and maintain integrations with CargoWise (eAdapter, APIs, EDI, workflow and registry configuration) and Expedient, including data mapping, message handling and automation.
- Develop and deploy AI-driven features such as document extraction, classification and workflow automation for logistics operations.
- Write and maintain technical documentation, program specifications and test plans.
- Support deployment automation, CI/CD pipelines and operational monitoring of production systems.
- Identify and address security risks across the product lifecycle.
- Advise leadership on technology strategy, evaluate emerging tools and platforms, and drive the company's digital roadmap.
- Train and support operational staff in adopting new systems and AI tooling.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field,
or at least 1-2 years of relevant professional experience with strong working knowledge of forwarding, customs and transport operations across air, sea and road.
- Hands‑on experience with CargoWise, including workflow configuration, eAdapter/API integration, EDI messaging or custom development.
- Demonstrated experience developing with or integrating Expedient freight forwarding and customs software.
- Experience building AI-enabled software with LangChain and with the models and APIs of all the modern frontier AI labs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta and xAI), including intelligent document processing and workflow automation in production systems.
- Strong experience with AWS for hosting, deployment and cloud services.
- Strong proficiency in one or more modern languages and frameworks (e.g. Python, C#/.NET, TypeScript/Node, SQL) and experience with REST APIs and EDI.
- The self‑direction to operate as the sole technical resource in the business, managing priorities and delivering without day‑to‑day technical supervision.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills, with the ability to translate operational logistics requirements into robust technical solutions.
What We Offer
- Salary of $80,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.
- Real ownership of the systems you build, in a business applying AI to day‑to‑day freight operations.
- A collaborative on‑site team environment in Brisbane.
- Ongoing career development, including support for CargoWise certifications and AI and cloud training.
