Job Description

Visishta Projects Pty Ltd will hire a Civil Engineering Technician to assist engineers and project managers in planning, coordinating, monitoring, and delivering civil construction projects. The successful candidate will undertake technical investigations, prepare project documentation, monitor construction activities, conduct site inspections, and ensure works comply with engineering specifications, Australian Standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.

This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional who enjoys working on-site and in the office while contributing to the successful delivery of infrastructure and civil construction projects.

Task & responsibilities

- Reviewing and interpreting work assignment instructions, determining the correct procedures to follow, and selecting the appropriate equipment for each task
- Producing sketches, charts, tabulations, plans and designs for building and construction works, including residential structures, drainage, water supply, sewerage and reticulation systems, driveways, retaining walls and other related structures
- Carrying out and overseeing both on-site fieldwork and laboratory testing across construction projects
- Gathering and examining data, and performing the necessary calculations and computations




- Undertaking field and laboratory tests on construction materials and soils, as well as compiling data for traffic surveys
- Preparing estimates of material costs and verifying that completed works comply with specifications, regulations and contract provisions
- Examining civil engineering and building works, and arranging and supervising maintenance and repair activities

Qualification & experience

AQF Diploma in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Minimum one (1) year of relevant full-time experience as a Civil Engineering Technician or in a similar role supporting civil engineering or construction projects.

Additional qualifications

- Alternatively, relevant industry experience may be considered where appropriate under ANZSCO requirements.
- Demonstrated experience supporting civil engineering or construction projects.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and engineering principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, or similar applications.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety and quality assurance.
