Your Opportunity to Join our Team

We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Hatchery Assistant to join our team at Mt Alford Hatchery in a casual position. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for supporting hatchery operations, ensuring animal welfare, and contributing to the production of high-quality chicks.

No prior experience? No worries! Full training will be provided, making this a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in poultry production while enjoying flexible work arrangements.

Daily Tasks

- Assist in egg handling, setting, and transferring to incubators
- Monitor and maintain optimal hatchery conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.)
- Handle chicks safely and humanely during processing and vaccination
- Clean and sanitise hatchery equipment and work areas to maintain hygiene standardsConduct regular quality checks and report any issues to supervisors
- Accurately complete records and documentation
- Follow biosecurity and animal welfare protocols

You will bring to this role

- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting up to 15kg
- Robust attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends if required
- A reliable and punctual work ethic
