Molonglo Support Services in Queanbeyan has been responding to people experiencing difficulties due to homelessness and domestic and family violence for over 46 years. We are a not-for-profit company and charity with a vision for everyone living in a secure and safe workplace.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity for a team player with strong customer relationship and administration skills. If you have experience in the social or community housing sector, or in public housing tenancy and would like to work part-time (24 hours per week, 4 days, 6 hours) come and join our small dynamic team.

You will be managing a tenancy portfolio of 13 properties in Queanbeyan.In this technical role, you will be organised, good at problem-solving, addressing day to day tenancy matters, and providing administrative functions that assist our clients to maintain their tenancies.Providing client-focused tenancy management services for people who are experiencing social disadvantage using a strengths-based approach. Managing tenancy and maintenance issues whilst operating under the NSW Residential Tenancies Act. Managing tenancy exits, tenancy sign up, rent collection and management of vacated arrears, rent reviews, reconciling rent payments, and maintenance & asset management functions including undertaking routine property inspections.Data entry into the data management systems and attend fortnightly staff meetings when required.

Experience

A qualification in Tenancy, Community or Social Work or similar discipline.

A strong background (minimum 2 years) in property management, public/community housing.

Ability to work with vulnerable people using a strengths-based approach.





Drivers Licence

Completion of, or current, NSW Working with Children Check

National Police Check

Eligibility to live and work in NSW

Required Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

High degree of drive, initiative, motivation and outcome orientation, with the capacity to deal with multiple and often conflicting priorities

Ability to successfully work within a small team

Ability to build rapport with residents

Experience working in partnership with a range of internal and external stakeholders

Provide information, advice and correspondence to renters as required

Provide timely reports to assist in the collation of data and documents for bi-monthly and annual compliance reporting.

Some understanding of (or ability to follow the NSW Residential Tenancies Act)

Well-developed computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office programs particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams and ability to adapt and learn internal IT systems.

An awareness, understanding, and sensitivity to homelessness issues and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people from various cultures.

Ability to work calmly under pressure

Working within our practice framework for supported housing, with a focus on working collaboratively with partners to assist tenants to sustain their housing and plan for a positive exit into long term housing options

Core focus on working to sustain tenancies through proactive management of tenant arrears and debt, property care and anti-social behaviour

Actively managing safety and promoting our safety culture
