Goondee Aged Care Home is a small family-owned residential aged care facility located in the Inner West of Sydney. We are committed to providing high-quality care in a friendly, respectful, and secure environment for our residents.

We are currently seeking a Recreational Activity Officer (RAO) to join our team.

This role focuses on supporting residents’ wellbeing by delivering engaging lifestyle and recreational activities that promote social connection, independence, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, organise, and facilitate individual and group recreational activities that support residents’ physical, emotional, social, and cognitive wellbeing.

Encourage residents to participate in activities that reflect their interests, preferences, culture, and abilities.

Assist in implementing the facility’s lifestyle and engagement program.

Support residents to maintain community connections through outings, events, and special programs where appropriate.

Assist residents in selecting meal choices and ensure menu selections are accurately documented.

Use facility devices or systems to record activity participation, resident engagement, and menu selections.

Maintain accurate documentation and records relating to lifestyle activities and resident participation.

Work collaboratively with nursing, care, kitchen, and allied health staff to support residents’ wellbeing.





Assist with preparing activity materials and setting up activity areas.

Support residents with mobility or participation needs during activities when required.

Ensure activities are conducted in a safe environment, following infection prevention and control and WHS practices.

Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment for residents, families, and visitors.

Commitment to providing safe, respectful, and high-quality services for residents, including maintaining privacy, confidentiality, and dignity at all times.

At least 1 year experience working in aged care or a similar role supporting recreational or lifestyle activities.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to engage with older people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Basic technology and computer skills, including the ability to use tablets or electronic systems for documentation.

Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Good organisational and time management skills.

Awareness of infection prevention and control practices.

Awareness of Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.

Positive, caring, and motivated attitude towards working with older people.

Current Police Check suitable for employment in aged care.

Must not be listed on the Aged Care Sector Banning Order Register.

Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or a relevant qualification.

Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or equivalent (AIN qualification).

Previous experience working in residential aged care.

Experience facilitating group activities or community engagement programs.
