About the role
MAXAM Australia Pty Ltd is seeking to employ an MPU Operator / MSU Operator to service our operations in Ebenezer, QLD - Applicant must be within 50 minutes drive from Ebenezer.
The role of an MPU Operator / MSU Operator fundamentally contributes to the success of the blast crew on site. Reporting to the Supervisor, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of MAXAM's Mobile Sensitising Unit (MSU) and supporting the blast crew on the quarry bench. The role can be physically demanding, working in various extreme weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the safe and efficient delivery of day-to-day blasting services
Manufacturing, loading and stemming of drill holes
Handling and use of explosives in accordance with procedures and legislation
Maintaining high standards of safety, environmental compliance, and housekeeping
Working collaboratively as part of a site-based blast crew
Adhering to all company, site, and regulatory requirements

It will be looked upon favorably if you have a mechanical background and have the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on the MSU. Prior blasting experience and qualifications are preferred but not essential
Licences & Requirements
Ideally, you will hold or be willing to obtain:
Heavy Rigid Licence (essential)
Current Dangerous Goods Licence (essential)
Explosives Security Clearance
Due to the nature of the role, successful applicants must be able to:
Pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
Meet all ongoing compliance and clearance requirements
