We're seeking an experienced logistics professional to take ownership of our inbound and outbound freight operations. This is a hands-on role responsible for coordinating transport, warehouse dispatch, supplier deliveries and customer logistics across a busy timber and building materials business. The successful candidate will be expected to identify problems before they occur, make decisions independently and keep our operation running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Outbound Logistics
- Coordinate the daily dispatch of customer orders.
- Schedule deliveries across our fleet and external transport providers.
- Liaise with customers regarding delivery times and changes.
- Ensure paperwork, delivery documentation and transport manifests are accurate.
- Monitor deliveries and resolve any transport issues quickly.
- Work closely with warehouse supervisors to ensure orders are ready for dispatch.
Inbound Logistics
- Schedule inbound deliveries from suppliers.
- Coordinate container arrivals and unloading schedules.
- Receive purchase orders into the ERP system.
- Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies.
- Communicate shortages, damages and delays with suppliers and purchasing.
General Operations
- Maintain accurate transport and inventory records.
- Monitor delivery performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate urgent deliveries and priority orders.
- Build strong relationships with drivers, suppliers and customers.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse and transport operations.
- Provide administrative support to the Operations team as required.
About You
You'll be someone who enjoys being organised, communicating with people and keeping operations running efficiently.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in logistics, transport, warehouse or supply chain coordination.
- Robust organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with both customers and internal teams.
- High attention to detail.
- Confidence using ERP systems (Odoo experience highly regarded).
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a busy operational environment.
- A calm, solutions-focused approach under pressure.
