Are you a driven, customer-focused Building Management Systems (BMS) engineer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges? Do you enjoy turning frustrated callers into confident customers and teaching others how smart-building technology works?
Optergy is strengthening its technical support and partner enablement capability across Australia and New Zealand. We are seeking a Technical Support Specialist based in our Sydney office to provide frontline technical support, deliver practical training, and help customers and system integrators deploy Optergy solutions successfully. This is a high-impact role for someone who combines deep BMS troubleshooting skills with clear, confident communication.

We design and manufacture our own hardware controllers, wireless devices, edge gateways, and cloud software platforms. As part of our Australian team, you will work closely with customers, integration partners, and global product and engineering teams, with a direct opportunity to improve support outcomes, influence product development, and strengthen partner capability across Australia and New Zealand.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the frontline technical expert for customers, field engineers, and system integrators across Australia, New Zealand and Asia via phone, email, remote access, and on-site visits.
- Methodically troubleshoot across the full Optergy stack-controllers, I/O devices, cloud platforms, and protocols including BACnet/IP, BADnet MS/TO, Modbus, and IP networking.
- Own technical tickets end-to-end, maintaining clear communication and driving timely, customer outcome-focused resolutions.
- Capture diagnostic logs, reproduce faults, and collaborate with our Melbourne based software and engineering teams on complex escalations.
- Translate recurring support issues into knowledge-base articles, quick reference guides, and product feedback.
- Travel within Australia, including periodic visits to Optergy's Melbourne head office, for customer support, product alignment,
and specialist training.

Requirements
- Engineering Background: Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, or Building Services Engineering, or equivalent hands-on trade or BMS experience.
- BMS Expertise: Hands-on experience configuring or supporting BMS automation platforms such as Optergy, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Delta Controls, Tridium Niagara, Automated Logic, or Trend.
- Driven & Customer-Focused: Relentless commitment to achieving positive customer outcomes, paired with patience and clarity under pressure.
- Strong Troubleshooting Skills: Strong knowledge of building controls, HVAC systems, BACnet, Modbus, IP networking, and cloud-connected devices.
- Practical, Hands-On Mindset: Equally comfortable diagnosing software integration issues remotely, working through controller and network faults, and supporting commissioning on site.
- Communication & Mobility: Excellent written and verbal communication, strong presentation skills, self-directed initiative, and willingness to travel within Australia from time to time as required.
