WesTrac is seeking highly capable Field Service Plant Mechanics to join our elite Hunter Valley Field Service team supporting some of the region's largest mining operations.
This role offers the independence of field service combined with the support, training and career opportunities available through one of the world's largest authorised Caterpillar dealers.

Work With Australia's Largest CAT® Fleet Support Network
As a Field Service Plant Mechanic, you'll become a trusted technical expert supporting customers across the Hunter Valley. You'll have the autonomy to make decisions, solve complex equipment issues and directly impact customer productivity.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing and repairing CAT® mining equipment
- Responding to breakdowns and critical maintenance events
- Completing planned maintenance activities
- Performing advanced fault-finding and troubleshooting
- Providing customers with expert technical advice
- Building strong relationships with site maintenance teams
- Delivering safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes
Looking Beyond Traditional CAT® Candidates
We're interested in speaking with experienced tradespeople from a variety of backgrounds, including:
- Mining equipment mechanics
- Heavy vehicle mechanics
- Defence and ex-ADF tradespeople
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capability
- Current Australian Driver Licence
- Customer-focused communication skills
- Ability to work independently and solve problems under pressure
