POV Plant and Haulage is seeking a skilled and experienced Machine Operator to join our team in Wamuran, QLD. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic construction environment. As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy plant and machinery on various construction sites. Your expertise and dedication will be instrumental in ensuring projects are completed on schedule whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. This role is based in the Moreton bay area and requires someone who is reliable, safety-conscious and committed to operational excellence.
What you'll be doing
- Conducting pre-operation safety checks and maintenance inspections to ensure all equipment is in safe working condition
- Following all safety protocols and site-specific procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others
- Accurately positioning materials and equipment as directed by site supervisors and project managers
- Maintaining accurate records and logs of equipment usage, hours and any maintenance issues
- Communicating effectively with ground personnel, spotters and supervisors to coordinate operations
- Monitoring equipment performance and reporting any faults or mechanical issues immediately
- Adhering to project timelines and contributing to efficient site operations
What we're looking for
- Current and valid High-Risk Work Licence (HRWL) or equivalent certification demonstrating competency in operating heavy plant machinery
- Proven experience trenching in a straight line, working around services and sanding up
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and a demonstrated commitment to safe working practices
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with supervisors, colleagues and ground personnel
- Valid driver's license appropriate to the machinery and truck being operated
- Ability to read and interpret site plans, safety instructions and operational guidelines
- Physical fitness and capability to work in varying weather conditions and challenging environments
- Reliability, punctuality and a professional attitude toward work
- Experience in the construction or civil works industry is highly desirable
