Digital Designer – Motion, eDM and HTML5

Gotham is seeking an experienced Digital Designer – Motion, eDM and HTML5 to join our Sydney creative team on a full-time basis.

This is a full time, M-F 8:30-17:30 studio-based position at our Sydney CBD office. The role is not available on a remote or hybrid basis.

This is a hands-on design and production role spanning motion graphics, animated digital assets, responsive eDMs, HTML5 advertising, print and general digital artwork.

The two most important capabilities for this position are strong working knowledge of Adobe After Effects and demonstrated experience building responsive HTML eDMs using Dreamweaver, HTML and CSS.

You will work from both supplied and approved creative concepts, adapting and producing accurate, polished assets across multiple sizes, formats and technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and produce motion graphics and animated content using Adobe After Effects
- Adapt animations into multiple sizes, durations, formats and file-size specifications
- Create animated digital advertising, social media assets, video content and animated GIFs
- Build responsive HTML eDMs using Dreamweaver, HTML and CSS
- Test and troubleshoot eDMs across common email clients, browsers and devices
- Produce HTML5 digital advertisements using Google Web Designer or Adobe Animate
- Prepare digital campaign assets for desktop, mobile, social media, websites and electronic displays
- Resize, version and adapt approved creative across multiple formats and media placements
- Prepare accurate print-ready and digital artwork using InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat
- Retouch, manipulate and optimise imagery for print and digital use
- Compress and optimise video and animation files to meet technical delivery requirements
- Ensure all artwork complies with brand guidelines, client specifications and platform requirements
- Check files carefully for accuracy, consistency and technical compliance
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines within a busy studio environment
- Collaborate with designers, account managers and other members of the production team

What We’re Looking For

- At least five years' professional experience in graphic design, digital design, finished art or digital production
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe After Effects
- A portfolio demonstrating motion graphics, animation and digital campaign production
- Demonstrated experience building responsive HTML eDMs
- Strong knowledge of Dreamweaver, HTML and CSS, particularly as they apply to email production
- Experience dealing with email-client compatibility and the technical limitations of HTML email
- Competence using Google Web Designer or advanced Adobe Animate skills for HTML5 advertising
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Acrobat
- Experience preparing both print-ready and digital artwork




- Strong typography, layout and finished-art skills
- Knowledge of digital file formats, video compression and web optimisation
- Ability to adapt approved designs across multiple sizes, formats and technical specifications
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to file construction and checking
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Transparent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team

Highly Regarded

- Experience using Litmus or Email on Acid to test and troubleshoot eDMs
- Experience creating animated GIFs in Photoshop
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro
- Experience using HandBrake or similar video-compression software
- Experience producing artwork for digital shopfronts, electronic displays or platforms with restrictive technical specifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint and MaxBulk Mailer

You are a versatile and technically capable designer who understands that successful digital production requires accuracy, organisation and careful attention to specifications.

You are comfortable moving between animation, eDM production, HTML5 advertising, digital campaign assets and conventional print artwork. You can work independently, follow established creative direction and solve practical production problems without compromising quality.
