Popeys Diesel Service is a locally owned and operated business with over 15 years of experience specialising in the service, repair, and rebuild of underground and surface mining equipment.
Our workshop provides a wide range of services, including diesel fitting repairs, auto electrical, boilermaking, line boring, machining, hydraulic services, and component rebuilds.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Diesel Fitter to join our team.
About the Role
This is an opportunity to join a skilled and supportive team working on specialised underground and surface mining equipment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality repairs, servicing, maintenance, and rebuild work while ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform servicing, repairs, maintenance, and rebuilds on underground and surface mining equipment
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs to a high standard
- Carry out mechanical repairs and component rebuilds
- Complete tasks efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship
- Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals where required
- Maintain accurate job records and documentation
- Work collaboratively with other trades and workshop personnel
- Ensure safe work practices are followed at all times
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Relevant trade qualification and experience in diesel fitting/mechanical repairs
- Experience working on heavy equipment, mining equipment, or similar machinery
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A strong focus on safety and quality workmanship
- A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a supportive team environment
