Key Responsibilities

- Manage sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation, purchase orders and delivery follow-up for assigned packaging categories.
- Source existing and alternative suppliers for PET/HDPE bottles and jars, caps and liners, labels, cartons, corrugated shippers, pouches/films/foils, desiccants and other packaging components as required.
- Prepare RFQs and evaluate quotations using total cost, specification compliance, tooling, MOQ, lead time, capacity, quality history, service and supply risk.
- Work with QA, R&D;, Production, Planning, Warehouse, Sales and suppliers to define and maintain clear packaging specifications, drawings, approved samples and inspection criteria.
- Interpret and challenge technical requirements including material grade, component weight and wall thickness, dimensions and tolerances, sealing and torque, label adhesion, print quality, barrier properties and transit/heat performance, where relevant.
- Assess supplier manufacturing capability and technical controls, including moulding, printing, lamination, die‑cutting and corrugated conversion processes relevant to the category.
- Coordinate packaging samples, artwork development, colour standards, line trials, first production runs and post-trial reviews for NPD and packaging changes.
- Support supplier qualification, audits,



change control and approval of new packaging materials in accordance with GMP procedures.
- Investigate packaging defects and supplier non‑conformances with QA; drive containment, root‑cause analysis, corrective action, replacement or credit, and verify effective closure.
- Support development and application of incoming inspection and AQL requirements, defect classifications and supplier performance measures.
- Monitor category risks including long lead times, tooling ownership and condition, single‑source exposure, supplier capacity, quality trends, freight disruption and obsolescence.
- Maintain accurate ERP data, item and supplier records, price and contract information, approved supplier status, specifications and procurement documentation.
- Identify and deliver cost‑saving, standardisation, value‑engineering and supply‑security opportunities without compromising quality or regulatory requirements.
- Perform other reasonable duties as directed by the Procurement Manager.

Technical Knowledge

- Working knowledge of packaging materials and common manufacturing processes, particularly injection moulding, injection stretch blow moulding/blow moulding, labels and printing, cartons, corrugated packaging, films and laminates.
- Ability to understand material specifications, drawings, dimensions, tolerances, approved samples, artwork, barcodes and print/colour requirements.
- Practical knowledge of packaging quality controls such as AQL sampling, critical/major/minor defect classification, inspection and test methods, NCR/CAPA or 8D, and root‑cause analysis.
- Ability to translate production,



quality and customer needs into clear supplier requirements and measurable acceptance criteria.

- Commercially minded, technically curious and confident challenging incomplete specifications or unsupported supplier claims.
- Analytical and detail‑oriented, with sound judgement in balancing cost, quality, service and supply risk.

- Effective cross‑functional collaborator with transparent written and verbal English.
- Strong Mandarin and English communication skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint; ERP or MRP experience is preferred.

Qualifications & Experience

- Minimum 3–5 years' procurement or strategic sourcing experience, including 2+ years' packaging procurement experience.
- Experience managing packaging categories including rigid plastics, labels, cartons and other packaging components.
- Experience in RFQs, supplier negotiations, cost analysis, MOQ/lead-time management and supplier performance follow‑up.
- Experience reviewing packaging specifications, coordinating samples/trials and resolving supplier quality issues.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment such as pharmaceuticals, complementary medicines, food, nutrition, cosmetics, medical devices or FMCG.
- Strong supplier management, communication and negotiation skills.
- Mandarin speaking capability is essential for managing relationships with Mandarin‑speaking suppliers.
- Qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Packaging, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience working in a GMP‑regulated environment.
- Experience sourcing from Australian and overseas packaging manufacturers.
- Knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes and quality systems.
