Seeking an experienced Welder to lead our steel fabrication team in Northgate.

B & D Fencing Pty Ltd is a long-established, family-owned fencing company (est. 1964) specialising in custom steel fabrication, supply, and installation of fencing solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. We’re seeking a skilled and experienced Welder with strong leadership qualities to join our team in Northgate.

About the Role

You will be a hands‑on Welder who also leads the workshop team. Your role includes performing high‑quality steel welding and fabrication, while overseeing day‑to‑day operations, mentoring staff, and ensuring jobs are completed to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform skilled welding and steel fabrication for fencing products (panels, gates, posts, custom structures, etc.).

- Carry out duties and daily tasks relayed by workshop manager

- Lead and supervise the workshop team on a daily basis.

- Read and interpret technical drawings/blueprints.

- Ensure all work meets quality, safety, and efficiency standards.

- Coordinate workflow, materials, and job priorities.

- Work with Workshop Manager to manage inventory and track stock levels

Requirements

- Trade-qualified Welder with extensive experience in steel fabrication (essential).

- Strong hands‑on welding skills across relevant processes.





- Previous workshop experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a small team.

- Previous work in the fencing industry is highly preferred but not essential.

- Ability to read engineering drawings and work accurately to specifications.

- Strong commitment to safety and quality.

- Relevant tickets (e.g., White Card) and reliable transport.

Pay & Benefits

Competitive remuneration package of $90,000 per annum, plus superannuation. Overtime and penalty rates may also apply. Role will be subject to
