Metro Trains Sydney (MTS) operates and maintains the M1 Northwest Metro and Bankstown Line - Australia’s first fully automated passenger railway. We manage 51.5km of track and 21 stations, with a planned expansion into southwest Sydney, connecting communities to opportunities that matter
About the Role
Lead the Electrical Network function for MTS, reporting to the Head of Infrastructure Engineering. This permanent, senior leadership role is responsible for maintaining MTS’s status as an electrical system operator, driving compliance with the National Electricity Rules, and ensuring the integrity of all electrical assets across the network.
This is a hybrid role, with 3 days onsite, 2 days WFH.
Duties
- Lead electrical asset performance, integrity, and safety across the MTS network
- Oversee LV and HV installation inspection, acceptance, and interface agreements
- Drive development and implementation of electrical safety rules and accreditation
- Conduct technical and safety investigations into electrical incidents
- Manage training and competence assurance systems for all technical staff
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated electrical network system operation experience (railway industry preferred)
- Experience managing electrical assets within a regulatory authority framework
- Proven background in electrical safety documentation as a network distributor
- Robust understanding of power system and protection system operations
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills in complex environments
