Senior Privacy & Legislative Compliance Officer NSW Public Sector | Clerk Grade 9/10
An opportunity is available for an experienced privacy and compliance professional to join a high-integrity, independent NSW public sector organisation operating in a complex legislative and regulatory environment.
This role will provide expert advice, strengthen privacy and data governance practices, and lead initiatives designed to embed legislative compliance across the organisation. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, regulators and internal business areas to improve compliance capability, manage emerging risks and support a strong culture of accountability.
The role You will:

- Provide expert advice on privacy, data governance and legislative compliance.
- Maintain privacy and compliance frameworks, policies, procedures and registers.
- Lead and contribute to privacy and legislative compliance projects.
- Conduct and oversee privacy impact assessments, audits and risk reviews.
- Prepare reports, submissions, briefing notes and executive correspondence.
- Support audit, risk and statutory reporting, including data breach reporting.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders, regulators and other government stakeholders.




- Promote privacy-by-design and support the integration of compliance into organisational decision-making.

About you You will bring:
- Strong knowledge of Australian and NSW privacy, information access and data governance legislation.
- Experience conducting privacy impact assessments, privacy audits and privacy risk reviews.
- Demonstrated experience implementing or managing data governance practices.
- The confidence to provide clear, practical advice to senior stakeholders.
- Robust analytical, organisational and written communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, sensitive matters and tight deadlines.
- Relevant tertiary or recognised industry qualifications, or substantial equivalent professional experience.

Experience working with legislation such as the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002, Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 and Privacy Act 1988 will be highly regarded.
