About the role
TML Transport is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our growing team in Two Wells SA. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work on a diverse range of heavy vehicles and specialized transport equipment. You will play a critical role in maintaining our fleet to the highest safety and operational standards, ensuring our vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant with all regulatory requirements. This position is based on-site at our Welshpool facility, where you will be an integral part of our maintenance and repair operations.
Key responsibilities
1. Diagnose, service, and repair heavy vehicles including trucks, prime movers, trailers, and related transport equipment
2. Perform scheduled maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups, and general inspections
3. Conduct thorough fault diagnosis using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge to identify mechanical and electrical issues
4. Execute complex repairs to engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, and hydraulic systems
5. Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all vehicle maintenance and repairs completed
6. Ensure all work is completed in compliance with relevant safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements
7. Inspect vehicles prior to and following repairs to ensure quality workmanship and vehicle roadworthiness
8. Identify potential issues during inspections and communicate recommendations to management
9. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment
10.
Assist with fleet management initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement in maintenance practices
What we're looking for
1. Current Heavy Vehicle Mechanic certification or trade qualification relevant to the automotive trades industry
2. Minimum 3 years' qualified experience working on heavy vehicles, including trucks, prime movers, and trailers
3. Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and computer-based vehicle diagnostic systems
4. Strong knowledge of engine systems, braking systems, transmission, suspension, and hydraulic systems specific to heavy vehicles
5. Ability to read and interpret, service manuals, and manufacturer specifications
6. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical faults
7. Proven track record of working safely and responsibly in a workshop setting
8. Solid organisational skills and attention to detail in completing service records and documentation
9. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
10. Current driver's licence (Class C minimum)
11. Experience with fleet maintenance or working for transport operators is highly valued
