Domestic and Family Violence Case Manager
- Part-time | 21 hours per week
- 12-month fixed term contract
- Salary: SCHADS Level 4.1 + superannuation + salary packaging + extra paid days off over the end of year period + leave entitlements
- Location: Hurstville

Moving Forward is a specialist domestic and family violence organisation supporting women and children who are experiencing or escaping family abuse and violence situations. We provide comprehensive practical support through trauma informed, strengths based, and client centred case management, counselling, education and therapeutic events, as well as support groups within the communities we serve.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are seeking an experienced practitioner who is confident in managing their own caseload and can work independently in a small specialist team. The successful applicant will bring robust DFV practice skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build trusting relationships with women experiencing complex circumstances.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Domestic and Family Violence Case Manager provides specialist case management to women experiencing or recovering from domestic and family violence.
The role is responsible for undertaking client intake, risk assessment and safety planning using the DVSAT and organisational assessment tools, and working alongside women to develop individualised support plans that reflect their needs, goals and choices.
The role provides advocacy, practical support and coordinated case management to assist women and children to access appropriate services, including housing and homelessness, gambling support, health, mental health, alcohol and other drug services, legal assistance, financial support, counselling and emergency relief. The Case Manager works collaboratively with partner agencies, including child protection, to support child safety and coordinated responses to domestic and family violence.
The role will also contribute to Moving Forward’s broader programs and community engagement activities, including the development, facilitation and evaluation of educational workshops, therapeutic groups, support groups, public events and campaigns that increase awareness of domestic and family violence and promote safety, recovery and wellbeing.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Manage an allocated caseload of women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, providing responsive, client centred case management.
- Undertake client intake, assessment, risk assessment and safety planning using the DVSAT and organisational frameworks.
- Work collaboratively with women to develop, review and monitor individualised case plans that support safety, wellbeing and client goals.
- Provide advocacy, information, referrals and practical support to assist women and children to access appropriate services, including housing, health, mental health, AOD, legal, financial and community supports.
- Coordinate support with relevant internal and external services,
including child protection and other key agencies where required.
- Participate in the development and delivery of therapeutic groups, support groups, workshops and community events as part of Moving Forward’s broader support services.
- Maintain accurate and timely client records, case notes and reporting requirements in accordance with organisational policies, SHS requirements and relevant practice standards.
- Participate in case discussions, supervision, team meetings and reflective practice to support quality service delivery.
- Support student placements and contribute to the development of emerging practitioners where required.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIS
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Community Services or a related human services discipline.
- Minimum 2 years prior case management supporting women and children experiencing domestic and family violence and/or complex support needs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage an allocated caseload, undertake assessments, develop safety plans and coordinate supports.
- Sound understanding of trauma informed practice, risk assessment, and the impacts of domestic and family violence on women and children.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently within a small team environment.
- Prior postgraduate training in domestic and family violence
