Empirical Solutions is seeking an experienced IV&V; Engineer to lead independent verification and validation activities across complex capability programs. This role is ideal for a Chartered Engineer with strong systems engineering expertise, a focus on governance and assurance, and the ability to foster collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams.

You will provide assurance that critical systems meet technical and functional requirements, while guiding engineering teams and supporting the delivery of mission-ready solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Oversee and coordinate verification and validation activities in support of acquisition programs
- Ensure test and evaluation objectives are met through structured assurance processes
- Develop, manage, and maintain engineering documentation suites
- Provide formal engineering advice across contracts and technical activities
- Manage and update technical risk registers, implementing mitigation strategies as required
- Support and mentor engineering team members, fostering professional development
- Review contractor deliverables and provide engineering feedback to ensure compliance and quality outcomes
- Organise and facilitate engineering workshops, reviews, and collaborative forums
- Ensure compliance with organisational quality management systems and engineering processes
- Contribute to governance, oversight, and decision-making activities as directed by senior engineering leaders

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from professionals who bring:

- Chartered Professional Engineer status (Engineers Australia or equivalent), or eligibility to attain chartered status




- Tertiary qualifications in Systems Engineering (or equivalent professional experience)
- Knowledge of structured capability acquisition processes and systems engineering frameworks
- Demonstrated experience in engineering leadership, governance, and assurance
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders
- Familiarity with structured contracting frameworks (e.g., ASDEFCON)

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

You’ll be highly regarded if you also bring:

- Prior experience in Defence, government, or other complex capability projects
- Understanding of technical, logistical, and operational requirements in capability delivery
- Experience managing cross-functional engineering teams across diverse technical domains
