The Role: Keep Water Moving. Support Safe Production.

We are seeking a capable and safety focused Pump Operator to join the Mining team at Blair Athol Coal Mine. This day shift role operates on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster and is suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining reliable dewatering systems and supporting secure, productive mining operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, monitoring and maintaining dewatering pumps and HDPE pipeline systems across the site. You will work closely with Mining, Maintenance and Technical Services teams to manage water effectively, respond to changing operational conditions and keep pumping infrastructure performing reliably.

This role is ideal for an experienced operator who enjoys practical field work, can identify and address issues early, and wants to make a visible contribution to safe and efficient mine production.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Mining Supervisor, you will support site water management through the safe operation, inspection and basic maintenance of pumps, pipelines and associated equipment. You will complete routine checks, record operational data,



assist with pipeline installation and respond promptly to faults or changing water conditions.

You will be an important link between field operations and maintenance, helping ensure pumping systems are available, effective and compliant with site requirements. The role requires practical judgement, attention to detail, sound communication and a disciplined approach to safety and environmental responsibility.

Responsibilities of the Role

Operate, monitor and assess dewatering pumps and water transfer systems to maintain effective water management across the mine site.

Complete regular inspections of pumps, pipelines, hoses, valves, fittings and associated infrastructure, identifying defects or performance issues early.

Assemble, install, relocate and maintain HDPE pipelines for dewatering and water transfer activities.

Record pumping hours, flow information, service data, faults and operational observations accurately and promptly.

Undertake routine servicing, basic maintenance and minor repairs within your level of competency, and escape more complex issues as required.

Support dewatering activities in active mining areas, including changing pump locations and pipeline configurations to meet operational priorities.

Work closely with Mining, Maintenance and Technical Services personnel to coordinate water management activities and minimise operational delays.

Comply with the site Safety and Health Management System, statutory requirements, environmental obligations, standard operating procedures and TerraCom standards.

Complete pre start inspections, workplace risk assessments and other required documentation before commencing tasks.

Identify opportunities to improve pump reliability, water transfer efficiency, equipment availability and safe work practices.

Operate supporting mobile equipment where trained, authorised and required, including dozers, excavators, front end loaders and trucks.

Maintain clear communication with supervisors and crews to ensure hazards, equipment condition and changing site conditions are understood and managed.





About You

You are a practical and dependable operator who understands the importance of reliable dewatering in an open cut mining environment. You are comfortable working independently in the field, solving problems and coordinating with others to achieve safe and effective outcomes.

You will bring:

Demonstrated experience or competency in mine site dewatering, pump operation or water management activities.

Hands on experience with HDPE pipeline assembly, installation and maintenance, with a current polywelding qualification highly regarded.

A strong understanding of pump operation, pipeline systems, basic fault finding and routine equipment maintenance.

Experience operating supporting mobile plant such as D10 or D11 dozers, excavators, front end loaders or haul trucks will be highly regarded.

A current Standard 11 and valid driver’s licence, together with any site required competencies and qualifications.

A Chainsaw Ticket or other relevant high risk or task specific competencies will be viewed favourably.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operators, supervisors, maintenance personnel and other site teams.

A disciplined approach to inspections, record keeping, environmental compliance and following safe work procedures.

A positive attitude, practical problem solving ability and willingness to contribute beyond your immediate tasks when required.

A genuine commitment to safety, teamwork, operational discipline and continuous improvement.
