Manufacturing Skills Queensland – Maryborough QLD
Based out of our Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (MCoE), Maryborough, Fraser Coast, with some travel including to our Brisbane office, our Business Development Manager is responsible for driving the growth of MSQ’s Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (CoE) and our commercial strategies.
What you will do
- Build and nurture new relationships and partnerships with industry bodies, manufacturing businesses, education providers, schools, and government agencies.
- Gather stakeholder and industry intelligence to identify emerging workforce needs, inform the design of new MSQ products and services and promote the uptake of existing MSQ products and services.
- Expand the customer base for all products and services delivered by MSQ by securing new business for the MCoE including facility hire, events, workshops, programs and meetings and assist in the development of new and diverse revenue streams.
- Assist in the development and implementation of commercialisation strategies for new and existing MSQ products and services, including developing project proposals aligned with the Annual Training Plan (ATP).
- Develop and manage implementation plans to meet key targets and deliverables, budget tracking and timeframes using our project management systems and CRM; plus admin duties including record-keeping, reporting, and managing correspondence.
- Assist with identifying, pursuing, and managing contracts, grants, tenders, sponsorships, bids, and funding opportunities.
- Attend and present at industry and peak body engagement and networking events and forums; participate on relevant manufacturing industry or Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector committees; and deliver targeted engagement activities to drive facility hire and take up of MSQ programs and services.
- Participate in, and support the MCoE team with the planning, coordination, and execution of events, for both the Centre of Excellence and for MSQ more broadly.
- Work with the marketing team on digital and other engagement strategies to promote success stories and generate leads and partnership opportunities; and collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful delivery of projects and programs, assisting with other activities as directed by your manager.
Who we are looking for
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship skills with a strong and proven ability to build and maintain positive, sustainable, professional relationships staff and stakeholders including industry partners, educational institutions, government agencies, and community organisations.
- Highly developed communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively negotiate, influence. and engage with diverse audiences.
- Strategic and creative mindset with a commitment to delivering future-focused solutions.
- Strategic problem solving, organisational and time management skills to proactively self-manage multiple projects and programs.
- Experience in grant writing, funding acquisition, or program sponsorship development is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience and successful track record in a business or project development role, ideally in a similar industry or a skills, education, training, workforce development, government, or employment services context will be highly regarded.
- Must have a current driver’s licence and ability to travel as required.
