We are seeking an experienced Policy officer to join the Strategic Policy and Legislation, Women and Multicultural Affairs Team at the Department. We are looking for collaborative, innovative and dedicated officers who want a role that prepares them for a career in policy. You will work on policy matters that are about achieving outcomes for people. This vacancy is for the Strategic Projects Team. This process may be used to fill other emerging vacancies at this level so officer of all policy disciplines should apply.
About Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism
The Department of Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism is responsible for fostering an environment that allows Queensland women to be economically secure. We work closely with other agencies, peak bodies, local leaders, and the community to lift the living standards of Aboriginal communities and Torres Strait Islander communities. About our team
Strategic Policy and Legislation, Women and Multicultural Affairs (SPLWMA) is a broad and fascinating area of work which leads policy and legislation across the Queensland Government for women, First Nations Queenslanders and Queenslanders from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
We support the Director-General and Minister on a diverse range of issues, including economic empowerment for women and Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the national agreement to close the gap in life outcomes for First Nations people, intergovernmental relations, and development of programs and reforms that impact the lives of women and First Nations people.

Your contribution and key responsibilities
- Research and provide policy advice on issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Develop, implement and evaluate policy initiatives and projects.
- Provide secretariat support for policy forums, including coordinating meetings, agendas and documentation.
- Prepare briefs, submissions, ministerial and departmental correspondence, Parliamentary Questions on Notice, and other policy advice.
