Position: EL1 Assistant Director - Health Policy
Location: Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane or Hobart
Start date: ASAP
Duration: Approx. 12 months with potential to extend
Pay rate: $84.53 - $92.89 per hour plus 12% super
Security requirements: Must be an Australian Citizen and must hold a minimum Baseline Security Clearance.
Overview
Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced EL1 Assistant Director to lead the implementation of significant policy initiatives that improve outcomes for the Australian community.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of complex government reforms, working across multidisciplinary teams to translate policy into practical, sustainable outcomes. You will provide strategic leadership, engage with a broad range of stakeholders, and support the successful delivery of key government priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and delivery of complex government policy initiatives and reform programs.
- Drive the planning, coordination and delivery of policy implementation projects, ensuring outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes.
- Provide strategic advice to senior executives on implementation risks, opportunities and delivery priorities.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support successful policy outcomes.
- Lead stakeholder consultation activities and incorporate feedback into implementation planning and delivery.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on policy implementation progress, identifying emerging issues and recommending practical solutions.
- Prepare high-quality briefings, reports and other documentation to support decision-making and governance processes.
Experience/Requirements
- Demonstrated experience implementing government policy, programs or reform initiatives within a complex setting.
- Strong understanding of Commonwealth Government policy development, decision-making and implementation processes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.
- Experience working in Commonwealth health policy or program environments will be highly regarded.
