The Burnside Library is part of South Australia’s extensive network of public libraries. The second busiest library in the State, Burnside prides itself on a dynamic collection of items available for loan along with programs including digital literacy, Baby Chat and Story Time, and author talks throughout the year. With over 220,000 visitors each year, the Burnside Library is situated at the heart of one of Adelaide’s most attractive and historic residential areas. The City of Burnside is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Senior Home Library Officer to coordinate and deliver our valued Home Library Service. This rewarding role supports residents who find it difficult to visit the library due to age, disability, illness or frailty, ensuring they remain connected to books, resources, learning opportunities and their community.
Working closely with customers, carers, volunteers and community partners, you will help improve wellbeing, reduce social isolation and promote equitable access to library services.
About the Role
As the Senior Home Library Officer, you will:
- Coordinate and deliver the Home Library Service for eligible residents.
- Develop personalised reading and resource profiles for customers.
- Select and prepare collections tailored to individual interests and needs.
- Coordinate volunteer-supported delivery schedules and service operations.
- Promote the service and identify opportunities to increase participation.
- Provide excellent customer service
- Supervise volunteers and support staff as required.
About You
You are a compassionate and community-minded professional who enjoys working with diverse groups of people and creating positive customer experiences. To be successful, you will bring:
- Experience in a public library and/or customer service environment.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver personalised customer service and readers' advisory support.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience coordinating volunteers.
- Experience using library management systems and associated e-resources.
The position is on a part time FTE 0.8, classified at Level 3 plus 12% superannuation under the City of Burnside Administration Employees Enterprise Agreement 2023.
