SUMMARY

The Assistant Principal - Curriculum provides strategic and operational leadership in curriculum, pedagogy and assessment to optimise student learning outcomes across the College.

This role enables high-quality teaching and learning through the development of a cohesive curriculum framework, fostering a culture of professional learning, and ensuring alignment with Brisbane Catholic Education's mission to teach, challenge and transform.

Working in partnership with the Head of Campus and Campus Leadership Team (CLT), the Assistant Principal - Curriculum leads evidence-informed practice, promotes academic excellence, and ensures compliance with QCAA and relevant educational authorities.

At Southern Cross Catholic College, this role is exercised within the Lasallian tradition, embedding the College's charism within curriculum, pedagogy and student learning pathways.

- Location: Southern Cross Catholic College, Secondary - Scarborough Campus
- Start date: January 2027
- Status: Full-time Fixed Term/Variation (This is a 5 year appointment with a further 5 years offered pending a positive review)
- Salary: $149,763 - $157,120 per annum + 12.5% Super
- Ad close date: 30th August 2026

Southern Cross Catholic College is a Prep to Year 12 school offering families a co-educational pathway to life-long learning. The College was founded in 1995 following the amalgamation of the Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Moreton Bay Region.

The multi-campus College operates as the principal Catholic College on the Redcliffe peninsula. Southern Cross Catholic College has three campuses located in Scarborough, Kippa Ring and Woody Point accommodating students in Prep to Year 6 and a fourth campus in Scarborough accommodating middle and senior years students from Year 7 to 12. About the opportunity

Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) invites applications for this School Senior Leadership position with the capability to support the Principal in:

- building the religious life of the school and a vibrant Catholic identity within the school community;
- growing the engagement, progress, achievement and wellbeing of each student in the school; and
- building a sustainable school community, ensuring stewardship of resources with transparency, accountability and compliance.

In this position you will be responsible for:

- Model and embed a contemporary Catholic worldview within curriculum design, pedagogy and assessment practices.
- Lead the design, implementation and evaluation of a compliant whole-school curriculum aligned with BCE frameworks and system expectations.
- Lead the development of high-impact pedagogical practices that improve student learning outcomes across all year levels.
- Oversee the development and implementation of assessment frameworks that are aligned with QCAA and BCE expectations.
- Collaborate with inclusive education leaders to ensure curriculum access and participation for all learners, including students with diverse needs.
- Work collaboratively as a member of the Campus Leadership Team to align teaching and learning priorities with BCE strategic direction.
- Ensure all curriculum, assessment and reporting practices comply with BCE policies,



QCAA requirements and legislative expectations.
- Ensure clear, timely and professional communication with parents and caregivers regarding student learning progress and curriculum matters.
- Contribute to whole-school strategic planning, improvement agendas and review processes aligned with BCE frameworks.

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

- Experience as an Assistant Principal, Assistant Principal Religious Education, Deputy Principal, Head of Campus or Principal, or a senior role providing support and leadership to Catholic schools, or equivalent experience
- Experience in teaching, and leading the teaching of, religious education.

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements

- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
- For this position you are required to be Catholic (or a faith partner of one of our ecumenical schools).
