Our client, a global environmental organisation, is currently seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join their team at the Gold Coast Desalination Plant. This is a long-term casual contract role with full time hours each week.
Duties
- Plan and deliver mechanical engineering projects through the full project lifecycle.
- Prepare detailed project scopes, technical documentation, schedules and cost estimates.
- Deliver assigned projects within budget and agreed timeframes while ensuring safe execution across all phases.
- Liaise with operations, maintenance, procurement and asset management teams to support successful project delivery.
- Coordinate tender site visits, prepare purchase orders and manage procurement activities.
- Manage subcontractors and engineering consultants, including site supervision and technical oversight.
- Review and approve contractor progress claims and invoices.
- Manage project budgets, schedules and reporting.
- Ensure project documentation, drawings, operational procedures and O&M; manuals are updated and maintained.
- Ensure all project activities comply with relevant WHS, environmental, quality and site-specific requirements.
Skills/experience
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) in the Mechanical area of practice, or eligibility to obtain RPEQ within an agreed timeframe.
- Post-graduate experience delivering projects within water, desalination, oil & gas, process plant or similar heavy industrial environments.
- Demonstrated experience with mechanical systems including pumps, piping, pressure equipment or process plant infrastructure. Experience with reverse osmosis or membrane-based water treatment is highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, the National Construction Code and Queensland WHS legislation.
- Experience managing contractors, consultants, project budgets and schedules.
