Derek Uebergang Excavations PTY LTD is seeking a Fencing Labourer to join our dynamic team on a casual basis. This role is based in Hervey Bay, QLD, and offers the opportunity to contribute to a range of fencing projects across the region. As a Fencing Labourer, you will play a vital role in supporting our experienced tradespeople, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. This position is ideal for someone looking for adaptable, hands‑on work in the trades and services sector.

Key responsibilities

- Assisting qualified fencers with the installation, repair and maintenance of various fencing types including timber, concrete and composite fencing
- Preparing work sites by clearing areas, removing obstacles and ensuring safe working conditions
- Transporting and positioning materials such as fence posts, panels, tools and equipment to designated work areas
- Digging post holes and assisting with site excavation work as required
- Holding, aligning and supporting materials and structures during installation and assembly
- Cleaning up and removing waste materials from job sites at the end of each day
- Following all health and safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Communicating effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and project completion
- Operating basic tools and equipment under supervision and guidance

What we’re looking for

- Proven experience as a labourer in the trades and services sector, or relevant experience in construction or landscaping
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour tasks, including lifting, bending and working outdoors in various weather conditions




- Strong work ethic and reliability, with the ability to arrive on time and maintain consistent attendance
- A valid driver's licence and access to reliable transport to reach job sites in and around Hervey Bay
- Current Construction White Card
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements relevant to fencing and construction work
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors and experienced tradespeople
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards learning
- Preferred: Previous experience in fencing installation or related fencing work or the willingness to learn
