The role
Looking for steady mining work, solid money and approximately two weeks off each month?
Virtus has an ongoing Trade Assistant position available in the lower Bowen Basin.
You’ll be supporting experienced tradespeople carrying out planned maintenance and repairs around draglines and electric shovels.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for experienced Trade Assistants who are comfortable working around heavy mining equipment and understand what is expected on mine site.
You’ll suit this role if you’re reliable, safety-focused, physically capable and happy to support tradespeople wherever needed.
What you’ll be doing
- Assisting tradespeople with planned maintenance and repair activities
- Preparing tools, equipment and work areas before each job
- Safely handling and moving materials, parts and equipment
- Completing general labouring and housekeeping duties
- Keeping work areas clean, organised and ready for the next task
What you’ll need
- Previous Trade Assistant experience in mining
- Current Standard 11 / Coal Board Medical
- Working at Heights
- Confined Space Entry
- EWP ticket
- Good attitude and ability to work well in a small crew
- Pride in doing the job safely and properly
- Experience working around draglines, electric shovels or large mining equipment will be highly regarded.
