The Role

Responsible for the daily preparation and service of meals to residents, ensuring that compliance with the Food Safety Program is maintained.

Role Accountabilities:

Undertake basic food preparation/minor cooking and serve meals within set time frames to ensure freshness, temperature, quality, and food safety are maintained.

Basic food preparation will include washing, peeling, chopping, cutting, helping to prepare salads and desserts.

Ensure food is served with the required quantity, consistency, and dietary requirements of individual residents, such as diabetic, low protein, textured modified, thickened fluids.

Develop and awareness of resident food preferences and substitute alternatives.

Ensure work areas, equipment and the overall kitchen is kept clean at all times, in accordance with current health and hygiene regulations.

Ensure that food delivered is stored correctly and that stock is rotated using first in, first out basis.

Collect used meal trays and utensils from dining room/consumer rooms, wash, dry and store in a neat and appropriate manner.

Ensure cracked, chipped, or broken dishes are disposed of appropriately.

Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, utensils equipment according to established standards of hygiene.

Ensure utensils and equipment is stored appropriately.





Sweep and mop the kitchen/Servery floors and wipe down walls.

Promptly transfer ingredients from storage areas to the kitchen as per the Chef’s instructions.

Assisting with the unloading of delivered food supplies.

Ensure that food delivered is stored correctly and that stock is rotated using first in, first out basis.

Dispose of rubbish in accordance with requirements.

What You'll Need:

Previous experience working as Kitchen Attendant, ideally within the Aged Care Industry.

Basic Food Preparation experience (preferable).

Show kindness, care, and compassion in the execution of your duties.

Capacity to take initiative and to be cutting-edge with a demonstrated commitment to a leadership role in a person-centred approach to caring for the older person.

Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development.

Intermediated Microsoft Office and computer skills.
