Applications are invited for a full-time Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Brisbane Hospitals Group (BHG) with position available at Wesley Private Hospital. We service many hospitals across the greater Brisbane metropolitan area, so there may be requirements to work at other hospital sites in the BHG.

This role provides the opportunity to work in a busy, multidisciplinary diagnostic laboratory, supporting the delivery of accurate and timely results that directly contribute to patient care.

Participation in a 24-hour, 7-day rolling roster, including public holidays, is a requirement of this position. In recognition of shift work requirements, scientists working the 24/7 roster under the terms and conditions of the CWA receive an additional week of annual leave, along with a 75% shift loading for hours worked between midnight and 5:00am.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine and specialised diagnostic testing across Haematology, Biochemistry, Blood Banking, STAT Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology
- Run, monitor, and interpret quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
- Analyse, interpret, and report results in line with laboratory and accreditation standards
- Comply with WHS policies and procedures at all times
- Assist with inventory control and stock management

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to supporting patient outcomes.

To be successful in this role,



you will need to demonstrate the following:

- A degree in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent)
- Experience in a multidisciplinary laboratory is desirable; however, recent graduates are encouraged to apply, with comprehensive on-the-job training provided
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while contributing effectively within a team environment
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A high level of commitment to accuracy, quality standards, and laboratory turnaround times
