About the role
We are seeking a General Solicitor with demonstrated PEXA and Conveyancing Experience and with condition 2 (the supervision requirement) removed from your practice certificate (or the ability to have this condition removed soon after commencing with us). The position is offered on a full-time basis but we are open to part time work. The position may suit a practitioner who is returning to work after a break or who has a family and would rather not work full time. This is a key position within our practice as you will be the primary lawyer working end to end on conveyancing and general legal matters to an established client base . You will work in close cooperation with the Principal of the firm. The firm has one other solicitor and a consultant. These lawyers and the Principal practice extensively in the fields of Local Government law, compliance and prosecution legal services and environmental planning law. Additional to the significant role that you will play in our general practice, you may be required from time to time to assist in our Local Government and Environmental practice by assisting in preparation for Court and attending rudimentary Directions. We recognise that you may not have experience in litigation and Court work and offer you 100% coaching,
support and mentoring to get you involved in this part of the practice.
Key responsibilities
Managing conveyancing matters from initial instruction through to settlement, including residential and commercial property transactions
Conducting due diligence and property searches using PEXA and other online conveyancing platforms
Preparing and reviewing contracts of sale, transfer documents and other conveyancing documentation
Liaising with clients, real estate agents, financial institutions and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth transaction completion
Managing settlement processes, including funds transfers and registration of documents
Providing legal advice to clients on property transactions, title issues and related matters
Maintaining accurate file management and ensuring compliance with practice management systems
Contributing to the work of the firm as required, including assisting with the preparation of Court documents and if required attending to rudimentary Directions in Court
Developing and maintaining robust client relationships through professional and responsive service delivery
What we're looking for
Current practising certificate as a solicitor in New South Wales with condition 2 removed or with the ability to have this condition removed as soon as possible
Proven experience in residential and/or commercial conveyancing
Demonstrated proficiency with PEXA (Property Exchange) and other online conveyancing platforms
Strong knowledge of property law, including the Conveyancing Act 1919 and related legislation
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to manage multiple matters efficiently whilst meeting tight deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with legal LEAP practice management software and Microsoft Office applications
Professional approach to client service with the ability to build and maintain client relationships
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Preferred: Experience in a law firm environment with exposure to general legal practice
