About the role:
As a Youth Worker, you'll be part of a dedicated care team supporting children and young people living in DCC care. You'll provide both youth work and disability support, helping young people build independence, develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes in a safe, supportive environment.

Our young people may have a range of additional needs, including ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), language disorders and reactive attachment disorder.

In this role, you will:

Provide trauma-informed, person-centred care and support.

Assist with personal care, meal preparation and maintaining a protected, clean home environment.

Administer medication and accurately complete medication documentation.

Support daily living skills, social development and independence.

Transport young people to school, appointments and community activities.

Build positive, therapeutic relationships that promote stability and wellbeing.

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver consistent, high-quality support.

You'll also support children and young people with complex communication needs using a range of communication methods, including audio devices, pictorial aids and PODD (Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display) communication books. No prior experience with these tools is required as comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided by our qualified Allied Health team.

About you:
The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children and young people, being a strong role model, doesn’t take things personally, and can help the children and young people explore themselves and their culture with good personal values.

We're seeking candidates with flexible schedules, available for a mix of day, night and weekend shifts as needed.



These positions require work across 24/7 rotating rostered shifts, including sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays.

What We're Looking For:

Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work or Child, Youth and Family Intervention or relevant in accordance with Residential Care minimum requirements (https://www.families.qld.gov.au/_media/documents/about-us/partners/licensing/minimum-qualification-standard-information-sheet.pdf)

A genuine passion for supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes

The ability to remain calm, resilient and professional in challenging situations.

Experience working with children and young people with complex behaviours, trauma, disability or mental health challenges (ideal).

Experience in supporting young people in Out-Of-Home Care (ideal)

Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and LCS Check, or willing to obtain

Current Open or P2 Australian Licence

Current First Aid and CPR, or willing to obtain

National Crime Check, or willing to obtain (DCC funded)

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) is highly desirable but not essential

Availability to work a 24/7 roster including sleepovers.
