The CSA Mine is located 11 kilometres north-west of Cobar, central western New South Wales. At 1.9 kilometres deep, it is one of Australia’s deepest underground mines and is Australia’s highest-grade copper mine.

Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. CSA Mine has recently joined Harmony Australasia, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. The acquisition underpins Harmony’s strategy to expand its Australasian footprint and establish a strong, diversified copper portfolio, complemented by the Eva Copper Mine Project in Queensland, currently under construction, and set to become the state’s largest open‑pit copper mine upon commissioning. In Papua Recent Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.

We are seeking an experienced and motivatedStatutory Surveyorto ensure the mine’s survey function meets all statutory requirements under the Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Act and Regulations. The Statutory Surveyor is responsible for the accuracy, certification, and maintenance of the official mine plans and spatial data and provides authoritative technical oversight for all survey activities at CSA.

Roster:

This role will be based onsite in Cobar, NSW working an 8/6 days FIFO roster from Brisbane or Sydney with local candidates highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:

Statutory Compliance

Fulfil the legislated duties of the Mine Surveyor as defined in the WHS (Mines & Petroleum Sites) Act and Regulations.

Certify and maintain the official mine plans, ensuring they are accurate, current, and compliant.

Ensure all survey control, void scans, excavation conformance checks,



and plan updates meet statutory standards.

Prepare and submit statutory survey reports, notifications, and documentation.

Maintain secure storage, version control, and audit trails for all statutory plans.

Technical Authority

Oversee the integrity of the mine’s spatial data, survey control networks, and survey methodologies.

Approve final mine plans, void interpretations, and spatial datasets before release.

Provide authoritative advice to engineering, geology, and operations on survey accuracy, design conformance, and spatial risk.

Lead investigations into survey-related incidents, discrepancies, or compliance issues.

Leadership & Oversight

Provide technical leadership to the survey team, ensuring high standards of accuracy, safety, and compliance.

Mentor and guide Mine Surveyors and Survey Technician in best practice and statutory requirements.

Set and maintain survey standards, procedures, and quality assurance processes.

Coordinate survey workload and priorities in alignment with operational needs and statutory obligations.

Operational Coordination

Ensure survey support is delivered effectively for development, production, projects, and infrastructure.

Attend planning and technical meetings to ensure survey requirements are integrated into mine planning and execution.

Oversee complex or high‑risk survey tasks and provide direction on technical challenges.

Manage survey equipment, software, and systems to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance.





Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance survey efficiency, data quality, and integration with mine planning systems.

Maintain robust data management practices, including backups, secure storage, and controlled access to statutory plans.

About You:

To be successful, you will bring the following skills, experience and personal attributes:

Extensive experience in underground hard‑rock mining survey operations.

Advanced capability with survey instruments, drone and LiDAR technology, and mine planning/survey

Recognised qualification in Mine Surveying, Spatial Science, or equivalent.

Registered as a Statutory Mine Surveyor under NSW legislation.

Strong understanding of WHS (Mines & Petroleum Sites) legislation and statutory survey obligations.

Communicates clearly and confidently with operational and technical stakeholders.

Demonstrates strong risk awareness and sound judgement in technical decision‑making.
