Are you passionate about empowering young people to achieve their education, training, and employment goals? We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to be part of our team as a Pathways Support Officer at Mid Coast Connect.

About Us

Mid Coast Connect is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to creating opportunities for youth across the mid-north coast region, from Nambucca to Bulahdelah. Through programs designed to support young people in their transition from school to further education, training, and employment, we foster lasting impact and positive change.

About the Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and community-minded person eager to make a difference in the lives of young people aged 15-21. This role involves providing practical support, tutorial assistance, and learning support to young people through flexible hub activities, individual assistance, and group-based work-readiness programs.

They will be responsible for providing a welcoming and supportive environment where young people can access assistance when required.

As the Pathways Support Officer, you will:

- Assist with resumes, cover letters and job applications.
- Provide tutorial and learning support.
- Help support participants to complete coursework and assessment tasks.
- Support job searches and online applications.
- Assist with TFNs, USIs, Medicare, myGov and banking services, etc.
- Deliver employability and work readiness workshops.
- Support flexible learning and career hubs.
- Record participant progress using our CRM system.
- Work collaboratively with Youth Pathways Coordinators and community partners.




- Travel within the service region.

To excel in this role, you should possess:

1. 1. Proven experience in youth, education, training, and/or employment programs.
2. 2.



Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with young people through mentoring, coaching and strengths-based support.
3. 3. Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to influence, motivate, and build relationships with young people and community stakeholders.
4. 4. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, support multiple participants, maintain accurate records, and meet program objectives.
5. 5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with solid administration skills and computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office and basic database systems.
6. 6. A current full driver’s licence, National Police Check, and Working with Children Check.

Terms and Conditions

The position is based at Port Macquarie and involves regular travel throughout the region between Nambucca Valley and Manning Valley, with access to a pool vehicle for work-related trips. A full (unrestricted) driver’s licence is required.

This is a salaried position with employment conditions as per the Labour Market Assistance Industry Award 2020.

Ongoing employment will be subject to satisfactory performance in the position, contractual obligations, business demand, and the availability of ongoing funding for the position.

Flexibility and a willingness to contribute to team-based practices are expected, including occasional attendance at meetings and events outside regular business hours.

Preferred applicants will undergo employment screening due to Child Protection Legislation.
