Alliance Resources Pty Ltd – Sydney CBD NSW

Alliance Resources Pty Ltd (Alliance) is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to come aboard with us on a full-time basis, taking on responsibility for the delivery of the Wilcherry Weednanna Gold and Iron Project (WGIP) on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, as it transitions from development into construction, commissioning and production during CY2027.

Based in Sydney, with the role requiring regular travel to the WGIP, located approximately 30 minutes north of the town of Kimba, South Australia. The position combines executive oversight with direct engagement in site-based activities as the project advances.

Role Purpose:

This role is responsible for leading the WGIP through post-approval execution, including construction, commissioning and the transition into production.

The COO will establish and lead the operating organisation, oversee construction and commissioning activities, and manage the transition into steady-state mining and processing operations.

The role carries end-to-end responsibility for mining, processing, infrastructure delivery, contractor management, workforce establishment and operational governance.

The COO will work closely with the CEO and Advisory Board on execution strategy, capital allocation priorities and operational readiness.

This is a delivery-focused executive role with direct accountability for outcomes and close integration between executive decision-making and site execution.

What you can expect:

This is a rare opportunity to join Alliance at a pivotal stage in the development of the WGIP and play a central role in shaping how the operation is built and run.

You will be part of a small executive team working closely with the CEO and Advisory Board, with direct influence over operational strategy and execution.

The role will suit someone who enjoys being close to operational detail, working across both strategy and execution, and contributing directly to the delivery of a mining operation from the ground up.

There is clear visibility between decision-making and execution, and the successful candidate will be trusted with significant operational responsibility from the outset.

Duties & responsibilities:

Lead the delivery of the WGIP through construction, commissioning and into production

Establish the operational organisation, including recruitment of key site leadership roles

Oversee open pit mining, underground development and gold processing operations

Review and optimise mine plans, mining methods, processing performance and operating costs

Manage mining, processing and infrastructure contractors

Develop and implement operational systems, reporting and governance frameworks

Prepare operational budgets, forecasts and production plans

Lead workforce mobilisation and site establishment activities

Ensure safe, compliant and environmentally responsible operations

Provide clear and regular operational reporting to the CEO and Advisory Board

Qualifications & capabilities:

Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification

Senior operational leadership experience within the Australian mining industry

Experience across both open pit and underground mining operations

Strong understanding of gold processing operations

Experience delivering mining projects through construction, commissioning and production ramp-up

Experience building operational teams and mine-site organisations

Demonstrated ability to improve operational performance and optimise mining outcomes

Experience managing mining contractors and capital execution programs

Robust commercial understanding of mining operations and project risk

Comfortable operating closely with Boards, CEOs and operational teams in a hands-on environment

What we offer:

$290,000 package (including superannuation)

Performance-driven financial incentives aligned to operational and production outcomes

About Alliance:

Alliance is a privately owned Australian natural resources company developing the WGIP. The WGIP is now transitioning from development into construction and production, and Alliance is building the executive team to deliver it.
