Rate: Up to $696/day + super
Work Arrangement: 4 days office / 1 day WFH
About the Chance
An exciting opportunity exists for a Category Analyst / Procurement Specialist to join a high-performing procurement team supporting upstream operations across Australia and PNG.
Working as part of a small, collaborative team of six, you will work closely with internal stakeholders to support sourcing, tendering, contract management and procurement activities across a diverse portfolio that includes logistics, camps, fleet, fuel, maintenance and operational services.
This role is ideal for a procurement professional with experience in sourcing, contract administration and supplier engagement who can quickly integrate into a fast-paced operational environment. You will be highly visible within the business, partnering directly with operational stakeholders to provide practical procurement support and ensure contracts and procurement activities continue to run smoothly.
This is a maternity leave cover position through to January 2027, with potential opportunities for extension or future internal opportunities based on business requirements and performance.
About the Role
Reporting to the Procurement Team Leader, you will work closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and procurement colleagues to deliver day-to-day procurement and contract management activities. The role requires strong communication skills, a proactive approach and the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
As part of a team of six procurement professionals, you will support operational stakeholders,
manage contract administration activities and ensure procurement processes are delivered efficiently and compliantly.
This role is focused on practical procurement delivery, contract administration and stakeholder support rather than large-scale strategic sourcing programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of operational contracts across multiple service categories.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and provide procurement support.
- Support end-to-end sourcing, tendering and procurement activities.
- Prepare tender documentation, commercial evaluations and contract recommendations.
- Administer contracts including extensions, variations, claims and renewals.
- Maintain contract records, supplier information and procurement documentation.
- Support supplier performance reviews and supplier management activities.
- Provide procurement support and commercial advice to operational stakeholders.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with governance, policies and delegated authorities.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and value optimisation.
- Support contract reporting, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain contract details including contract values, terms, bank guarantees and variations.
- Ensure sourcing and procurement activities comply with contractual and governance obligations.
About You
To be successful, you will bring:
- 2-5+ years' experience in procurement, sourcing, contracts or category management.
- Experience supporting tendering and contract administration activities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a business-facing environment.
- Experience preparing commercial documentation and procurement evaluations.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence working directly with operational and senior business stakeholders.
- A positive attitude, strong initiative and solution-focused approach.
Essential Requirements
- Experience in procurement, sourcing, contract management or category management.
- SAP experience.
- Experience managing contract variations, extensions and contract administration activities.
- Ability to commence within a short timeframe.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Highly Desirable
- Oil & Gas, Energy, Mining, Resources or Heavy Industry experience.
- Coupa experience.
- Experience working within operational procurement environments.
- Exposure to supplier performance management and contract governance.
