ABOUT IWC:

IWC is an Aboriginal community-controlled and multi-accredited health and wellbeing organisation that delivers services without discrimination to Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Bundaberg and the Wide Bay Burnett.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

A new opportunity has opened for an Outreach Worker*within the Social Health and Wellbeing services at IWC. This position is up to full-time hours (76 per fortnight). The purpose of an Outreach Workerwill be to encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to access health services and help to ensure that services are culturally responsive.

DUTIES:

- Establish links with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and promote health outcomes. Encourage and support the increased use of health services including MBS Health Assessments, MBS care plans and follow up items.
- Undertake ITC activities relating to Men’s Business.




- Distribute information and resources to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities about services available to/for them.
- Encourage and help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to attend appointments with GPs, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Assessments and care planning.
- Encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to identify their status.
- Be willing and able to travel to and from Gayndah as required to support service delivery and meet operational requirements.

KEYREQUIREMENTS:

- Must have completed secondary schooling or be above school age.
- A current driver's licence is essential or ability to obtain.
- AFirst Aid Certificate or ability to obtain.
- A Blue Card (Working with Children Card QLD)* or ability to obtain.
- A Federal Police Check or ability to obtain.

* No Card, No Start legislation means that the successful applicant will need to hold a valid blue card before they start work. IWC will cover the cost of this application for the successful candidate.

SALARY PACKAGE:

Your Salary Package is made up of the following: -

- Salary Sacrifice Packaging valued up to $15,990 per annum – adding approximately $2,000 to your take-home pay (available after completion of probation).
- Meals and Entertainment Package up to $2,600 per annum (available after completion of probation).
