As our portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking a proactive and organised Fire Compliance Coordinator to join our Norwest team.
About the Role
Working closely with strata managers, contractors, building managers, strata and association committees and regulatory authorities, you will coordinate inspections, fire orders, rectification works, Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFSS), compliance reporting and ongoing fire safety requirements across the portfolio.
The role takes ownership of the end-to-end management of fire compliance matters, ensuring legislative obligations are met, statutory deadlines are achieved, compliance registers are maintained and fire safety issues are resolved through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate annual fire safety inspections, testing and certification requirements
- Prepare, lodge and track Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFSS) with councils, Fire and Rescue NSW and other regulatory authorities as required
- Manage fire orders from receipt through to completion and closure
- Coordinate and monitor fire defect rectification works across managed properties
- Maintain and monitor the fire compliance register, ensuring statutory obligations and critical dates are met
- Monitor and coordinate compliance with AS1851 routine servicing and maintenance requirements
- Liaise with councils, certifiers, contractors, consultants, owners corporations and building managers regarding compliance matters
- Obtain quotations, prepare work orders and coordinate contractor attendance for inspections and remedial works
- Track progress of remedial works and ensure compliance deadlines are achieved
- Review contractor reports, identify compliance deficiencies and coordinate required corrective actions to ensure legislative and regulatory obligations are met
- Issue compliance notices and correspondence as required
- Investigate false fire alarms and coordinate cost recovery processes where applicable
- Collaborate with offshore support teams to manage compliance workflows and correspondence
- Process invoices, monitor payments and assist with debt recovery where required
- Maintain accurate records, compliance registers, documentation and correspondence within company systems, ensuring information remains current, complete and readily accessible
- Prepare internal compliance reporting and management reports on fire safety obligations, outstanding actions and portfolio performance
- Provide regular updates to Strata Managers, committees and owners regarding compliance matters
- Ensure completed works are appropriately certified and all legislative requirements have been satisfied prior to closure
About You
- Experience within fire compliance, fire services, strata management, facilities management, building compliance or a related industry
- Sound understanding of fire safety legislation, Annual Fire Safety Statements and compliance obligations (highly regarded)
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills
- Excellent attention to detail and record management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple compliance deadlines simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence liaising with councils, contractors, consultants and clients
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, with strong attention to detail and accurate data management capabilities
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem solving
